THE PRESENTATION
This course introduces through-the-floor lifts as an option for improving accessibility and supporting aging in place in residential environments.
Learning objectives
- Understand the role of through-floor elevators in addressing home access and aging-in-place challenges
- Define through-the-floor elevator/lift technologies, applications, and features
- Learn about North American code considerations for through-floor elevators/lifts
- Appreciate the basics of site preparation, the installation process, and project management for through-the-floor lifts/elevators
By the end of this session, participants should have a broad understanding of through-the-floor elevators and the increasing demand for aging-in-place mobility in the home.

"Introduction to Through The Floor Lifts: An Option for Safe Aging in Place" is an AIA-registered course and provides attendees with 1 HSW Learning Unit towards their CES learning credits. We, the passport provider, will report attendance, and the credits will be visible in your account after 3 business days. When registering, you may request that a certificate of completion be sent to you after the course is finished.
